As early as 1980, he was retained by U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, or EPA, as an asbestos expert and asked to design a state-of-the-art particle characterization laboratory. This asbestos expert is a mining engineer with more than 20 years experience analyzing asbestos-containing materials and designing studies to measure potential asbestos release from asbestos-containing materials. He is considered an authority on the exposure to asbestos through passive activities. He has been qualified as an asbestos expert in State and Federal courts and has previously testified to governmental and industrial standards for airborne asbestos. He is a member of the Society of Mining Engineers, the National Society of Professional Engineers, American Society for Testing and Materials, and the American Industrial Hygiene Association.
