Case Description:

A direct marketing expert in retail pharmacy practices and HIPAA regulations was needed for a class action suit against a national pharmacy chain. The plaintiff alleged that the drug store chain was placing customers’ valuable proprietary information, obtained via prescriptions, into a marketing database for the purpose of its direct marketing efforts. The plaintiff was also seeking damages against pharmaceutical company sponsors who pay the retail pharmacy chain to implement the direct marketing program in an effort to sell more of its drug, based on customer information available through the pharmacy's database.
