IMS ExpertServices™ has located ultrasonic surgical instruments experts. Ultrasonic surgical instruments are chiefly used in laparoscopic and endoscopic procedures, which are minimally invasive techniques for performing surgical operations using instruments inserted through narrow hollow tubes (cannulas) rather than using the instruments in larger open incisions, as in traditional surgery.
An expert in ultrasonic surgical instruments was requested who was familiar with the design and use of such instruments in laporoscopic surgical procedures. Generally, in such procedures, one or more trocars are used to pierce the patient's abdomen, and a cannula is inserted to provide a path to the desired surgical site. The instrument is then inserted through the cannula, and ultrasonic energy is used to vibrate the instrument end very rapidly. The tool end can have a variety of useful shapes and, when vibrating, acts as a high-speed version of an electric carving knife. Although invisible to the naked eye, the vibration simultaneously provides precise cutting and seals off blood vessels to prevent bleeding.
