An LCD Display expert in Liquid Crystal Display, or LCD, technology was needed for a patent infringement case relating to avionic displays. A government contractor was working on display technology to enable compatibility between CRT terminals and LCD monitors. At the time the patent was filed, LCDs did not exist in full color. There was a hold up in licensing and by the time it was issued, LCDs had been perfected by the industry; more specifically, the process of making and mounting them in the cockpit of a plane had been perfected.
IMS ExpertServices™ was asked to locate an LCD display expert familiar with avionic displays, specifically the different types and how they work, and with the optical characteristics of LCD monitors. As the patent related to LCDs, the expert was required to know how liquid crystal displays work, how they filter light, and how filters interact with LCD displays.

Digital Display Technologies ExpertThis LCD display expert has directed research and development with plasma, LCDs, and other cutting-edge technologies. He has been working with displays and components since the early 1970s. During the 1990s he began focusing on the design and materials for flat panel displays. He holds a B.A. and an M.A. in Physics, as well as a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering. He has worked as an expert witness approximately eight times and has given testimony at deposition three times.
IMS Reference #4974078 LCD Display ExpertThis LCD display expert received his BSEE degree in 1963. He spent most of his 35-year career designing CRTs and LCDs for use in aircraft cockpits. In the late 70s he researched luminance, chromaticity, and convergence characteristics for the development of colorized electronic instrument displays in aircraft cockpits. In the late 80s he was part of the technology consultant team that defined and procured color LCDs. He was part of the design team that conducted the first low-light study of night vision systems in the cockpit. He holds a patent on a backlighting device designed for night vision imaging system compatibility.
IMS Reference #4994224 Lens Array ExpertThis LCD display expert has more than 35 years of experience with flat panel design, research, and development. He spent nearly ten years with one of the premier developers of high-resolution color displays. He is the inventor on more than 20 patents in displays and continues to add to the list with nearly as many patents pending. Many of the processes and technologies he developed are still in use.
