Drug Design Expert

This drug design expert’s research interests are in drug discovery and natural product research, which includes drug synthesis and pharmacophore development, prodrug design, biotransformation studies, preformulation and preclinical research. His major focus is the development of therapeutic agents for the treatment of central nervous system pathologies and diseases. He also researches new anticancer agents derived from natural products and the design of novel radio-sensitizing agents for use in tumor radiation treatment. He has founded or co-founded four start-up drug discovery companies. He is internationally known for his research work in drug discovery, delivery, and development. Several of the drugs discovered in his laboratory are currently in various phases of clinical development. Since 1966, he has served as a full time and part time professor teaching courses in toxicology and pharmacy.
