IMS Frequently Asked Questions
+ How does your service work?
IMS ExpertServices works primarily with law firms and large corporations on business-versus-business litigation. When you contact us with a need for an expert, we perform a custom search for the best expert with the case-specific characteristics you require.
+ What are the fees for your service?
There is no fee for the search. We perform a search to locate the best-qualified, pre-vetted, and conflict-free experts to match your case needs. You are then presented with the best possible expert candidates to review. Should you engage our expert, our fee is embedded in the expert's hourly rate. It is a flat rate, not a percentage.
+ How is IMS ExpertServices different from other expert witness firms?
We're the only firm that does a proactive, custom search for every inquiry, taking into consideration factors such as industry experience, academic credentials, research interests, publications, regional and geographical factors - while others hand you off-the-shelf resumes from a registry or database of experts.
+ Why have us do the expert search?
Working with our team of experienced researchers and recruiters saves you time, non-billable hours, and frustration. You choose from the best candidates, who are pre-vetted and conflict-free. You interview the expert candidates and chose the ones that fit your needs. We do the legwork so that you can focus on the legal work.
+ How do I initiate a search?
Simply contact us via the website
, email, or our toll-free number (877.838.8464). Our support staff is available to speak to you about your expert needs.
+ How do I contact one of the experts from your website?
The case studies and experts presented on our site are examples of the kind of results we can provide. Your case is most likely different in some ways from what is described on our site. While we would certainly include the experts from our website in any search, what you see on our site would not necessarily be a good fit for a similar case. We will perform a customized search for the exact expert to meet your needs.
+ How can I get added to your database or get considered for expert witness projects?
First, please understand that we are not a registry or database of experts. However, we maintain records of expert candidates which have been considered for cases. If you'd like to update your current information, please create an account
on Expert Access and update your information. You can upload your resume/CV, rate sheet, litigation support history, professional photo, etc.
+ What are the fees for being listed with your company?
Since we are a search firm, not a registry or database of experts, we do not charge a fee to our experts.
+ What kind of experts do you work with?

+ I was presented on a case but haven't heard anything in a while. Do I need to follow up?
Unfortunately, many cases become stalled or delayed for any number of reasons. It is quite possible that the client has not made a decision regarding his or her expert needs. As they say, "the wheels of justice turn slowly."
+ Why should I, as a top expert in my field, work with IMS ExpertServices?
IMS ExpertServices handles all the paperwork and billing for you. If you are contacted by us and presented for a case, it is because we feel you are the best candidate for the case. You, as an expert, do not have to "sell yourself" to the law firm. We work with nearly all of the AmLaw Top 100 firms in the country, and three quarters of the Fortune 100.
