Digital Copyright Expert in Online Content Publishing
An expert in digital copyright was sought for a copyright infringement case brought by a major publishing house. Plaintiff sought to stop its works from being incorporated as part of a searchable online database. At issue was the distinction between “fair use” and infringement as defined by the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. The plaintiff argued that by accessing the entire work, for the purpose of making it searchable, constituted infringement.
Design Copyright Expert in Decorative Glass Art
A design copyright expert in decorative glass art was needed for a suit alleging copyright infringement. The claimant alleged defendant's art glass mural infringed on the registered design of the plaintiff. The issues were substantial similarity, access by the alleged infringer, originality of the design, the use of color and the physical layout of the artwork, and the method of fabrication and materials used, as well as whether plaintiff's registered design consists of rudimentary, common, unavoidable features such that design copyright was not applicable.
