Internet-Based Security Expert in Theft of Trade Secrets Matter
An Internet-based security expert was needed in a theft of trade secrets matter involving two distributors of sporting equipment and firearms. Plaintiff alleged that defendant fraudulently obtained information by means of posing as customers on plaintiff’s public website.
IMS ExpertServices was asked to locate an Internet-based security expert who was familiar with the state of the art during the mid to late 2000’s. The expert was needed to review the security protocols of both the plaintiff and defendant during the time period in which the fraudulent activity occurred. The expert then needed to determine how the measures compared to protocols that were put into place after the alleged trade-secret theft.
After receiving his Ph.D., this computer science expert began teaching in a university’s independent computer science department, where he worked as a professor for more than 20 years. He is the recipient of numerous awards for his achievements in the department, including honors as an outstanding faculty member and distinguished professor. Throughout his career, he has served as a consultant to major computer and technology companies, providing research and insights into various topics including real-time systems, networks, multimedia, operating systems and Internet communications, and security. This computer security expert is a professor of computer science and the co-founder of a security consulting firm. He also works as the director of an information security institute at a large university. He has over 20 years of experience in computer security and networking, including firewalls. He is the named inventor on eight U.S. patents, several of which are related to computer network security. He has written several books on Internet security and firewalls.
