Internet Telephony Expert in VoIP for Patent Infringement Case
An internet telephony system expert was needed for a patent infringement case asserting infringement over several patents for Voice over Internet Protocol, also known as VoIP. Voice over IP systems transmit telephony signals as digital audio. These are typically reduced in data rate using speech data compression techniques and encapsulated in a data packet stream over IP.
IMS ExpertServices was asked to locate an internet telephony expert who understood packet switched voice networks and the gateways between the internet and circuit switched voice networks. The expert was required to understand how VoIP differs from traditional telephone systems using the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) as well as VoIP call features.
This internet telephony expert has extensive experience working with telecommunications networks. He has a long association with a telecommunications research group which focuses on developing emerging voice technologies and strategies, examining the broad implications of network convergence, and facilitating an understanding of how VoIP can improve the technology of voice communications. This expert holds a B.A., an MBA, and a Ph.D. IMS Reference #4995925
This network architecture expert has lead research on projects that pioneered real-time interactive applications over the Internet, such as packet-voice (aka Voice over IP) and packet-video. His research has included high performance local area networks (LAN), network security, information architecture, and computer architecture and parallel processing. This expert earned a Ph.D. in computer science from Harvard University and has worked as an engineer for the leaders of the computer systems industry. IMS Reference #4995947
