Pipeline Construction Expert in Welding Metallurgy
An oil and gas pipeline construction expert with special expertise in welding metallurgy was needed for a breach of contract case. The dispute arose over metallurgy processes and properties for natural gas pipeline weld seams. Defendant was responsible for construction and nondestructive testing of the weld seams for 30 miles of pipeline prior to it being placed underground. Plaintiff alleged that upon radiographic inspection subsequent to completion of the pipeline, more than 3,000 of the welds failed inspection.
IMS ExpertServices was asked to perform a pipeline construction expert search for metallurgy experts with expertise in construction of natural gas pipelines. Metallurgy knowledge of the piping and welding materials used in pipeline construction and an ability to read and interpret radiographic films of the welds were prerequisites for this expert. A Ph.D. was required and Professional Engineer certification was preferred.
